Austin is expected to have a "physical role" at a minimum at WrestleMania 38.
As noted, Fightful Select reported earlier this week that WWE had "made a significant overture" to convince Austin to wrestle what would be his first match since March 2003. Owens was immediately speculated as an opponent, with further fuel thrown on the fire when KO cut a promo insulting Austin's home state of Texas on this week's episode of Raw.
Per Dave Meltzer on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Austin vs. Kevin Owens is now "on the card" for the 2/3 April event, though there's currently no word which night the match will take place on.
It should be noted that There’s apparently one more surprise, besides Austin, still to come. It’s supposed to be Austin-level, and that’s a pretty small list of people that can be Austin-level. We could get to see Hogan, Flair and Undertaker, The Rock, John Cena and more.
WrestleMania 38 will be a two-night event at AT&T Stadium in Dallas which will go on to set a new record for the most stadium events in a year for WWE.
