Former WWE Champion Big E is expected to make a full recovery.
Sadly, the March 11 episode of SmackDown saw Holland delivering an overhead belly-to-belly suplex to Big E at ringside, resulting in Big E landing on the top of his head; Big E was later placed on a stretcher and taken to a hospital.
On social media, Big E stated that he has a broken neck, and fractures in his C1 vertebrae and C6 vertebrae, but no ligament or spinal cord injuries. Big E also said that he would not require surgery for his injury, and thanked people for their concern.
Speaking to ESPN's Mark Raimondi, Big E said he would also be assessed on the six and nine-month points, but there would be no clear answer until the one-year mark.
"It's very sobering to hear that," Big E said. "... I think to be great at something like [pro wrestling] or at least to be competent, you can't spend all your time worrying about possibly fatal injuries or breaking your neck. You have to go out there and be free and in the moment. I think a lot of us as performers don't spend a lot of time thinking about that stuff. I never thought I would be."
As noted, following the incident, Ridge Holland also arrived and sent him a package of red meat, which Big E gave to his friend because he doesn't eat red meat. During the interview, Big E also stated he doesn't have any real-life heat with Ridge.
