As previously reported, the WWE World Cup begins tonight on Friday Night SmackDown. One of the names discontinued is a person who hasn't appeared on WWE TV since July.
The returning stars tonight are: Braun Strowman, Shinsuke Nakamura, Sami Zayn, Santos Escobar, Rey Mysterio, Butch, Ricochet, and the returning Jinder Mahal.
Mahal was involved in a storyline with Shanky, but the storyline ended when Vince McMahon resigned as CEO of the company. Mahal and Shanky wrestled at the house show at the time, but the last time either of them wrestled was in July. It seems there are plans to use the castle again on TV.
The following is set for tonight's SmackDown on FOX:
- The Usos will defend against The New Day. If The Usos win then they will break The New Day's title reign record.
- Santos Escobar vs. Shinsuke Nakamura in the World Cup first round
- Six-Pack Challenge to determine the next challenger for Ronda Rousey's SmackDown Women's Title. The competitors are Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Shotzi, Sonya Deville, Lacey Evans, and Xia Li.
