It seems like we have Cody Rhodes' retirement statement.
Tonight's AEW Dynamite: Homecoming edition featured Malakai Black Vs. Cody Rhode in the main event matchup. This also marked Malakai Black's AEW in-ring debut.
Black picked up the pinfall victory after a fairly quick match. Black took Cody out with his signature roundhouse kick to the face, then simply put a boot to Cody’s chest for the pin.
After getting a loss, Rhodes took to the mic and cut a promo possibly on his retirement. He took off one boot, implying he was going to take his boots off and leave them in the ring to mean his retirement.
As he was about to take off his second boot, Black suddenly attacked Cody with crutch from behind.
