WWE is making a concentrated effort for their PLE events.
WWE has been expanding its reach to stadiums and international territories, as well as returning to places like Puerto Rico, where they haven't been in 18 years. Fightful Select reports that this effort is aimed at generating maximum buzz around these shows.
WWE has been giving extra attention to the selection of PLE locations, and has significantly altered its approach from 2022. Their aim is to ensure that each event has a distinct purpose, whether it be thematic, financial, or strategic. For instance, a thematic purpose would involve Sami Zayn performing in Montreal for Elimination Chamber, or Bad Bunny hosting Backlash in Puerto Rico. Financial purposes would be choosing between stadiums or arenas.
Strategic purposes would involve holding London's event during prime time ahead of their rights renewals in the area, and scheduling WrestleMania in Los Angeles around the time they plan to sell the company and ahead of the TV rights renewals.
"It's about spacing out PLEs so the demand builds in market," said the higher up, noting on press releases they'll often point out it's their first time heading to a market for a PLE in quite some time, when applicable.
