Yet another top AEW star is reportedly out of action due to injury.
At AEW Dynamite: Road Rager on June 15, Christian Cage brutalized Jungle Boy after Jurassic Express lost the AEW Tag Team Championship to the Young Bucks.
Following the attack, Jungle Boy was stretchered out of the arena, apparently ducking another AEW star in the injury bug. However, since then, there was a lot of misconduct over the concern that Jungle Boy was genuinely hurt, while, others speculated that the stretcher job could’ve been to sell the beatdown.
The injury was previously reported, but the exact injury was unknown. Dave Meltzer confirmed on today's Wrestling Observer Radio that Jungle Boy is out with a shoulder injury. Nothing can be said on how long he will be out.
“It’s a shoulder injury. I don’t know 100% it’s from the ladder match, but that would make sense. I know it’s a shoulder injury.”
Jungle Boy has not wrestled since the Road Ragger edition of AEW Dynamite on June 15, where he worked in a ladder match for the AEW World Tag Team Titles, with The Young Bucks winning the title for the second time.
The title run of Jurassic Express ended after 161 days. After the match, Christian Cage opened fire by attacking Jungle Boy and connecting with a killswitch in front of his family, who were at ringside. He hits Jungle Boy with a speaker to end the show and seemingly has a way of writing him away from television.
Last Wednesday on Dynamite, Cage cut a promo about his actions and noted that he wanted to avenge the ending from the Casino Battle Royale match, so he pretended to align himself with Jurassic Express. Luchasaurus came out to confront Cage, but Cage said they needed to talk and the two went to the area backstage together.
