It was recently reported that multiple pitches have been made to Steve Austin since last year. It was noted that he's been open-minded to the possibility of wrestling another match for the right situation and the right money.
Austin was pitched a match with Brock Lesnar last summer or fall, but the money associated was a non-starter. Later on, Austin was offered a significantly higher amount to possibly face Roman Reigns, and we're just told he didn't get back to WWE on it. Avery in-shape Steve Austin was made additional pitches to get on the show, but not for necessarily marquee matches. LA Knight was a name rumored online.
According to clearance from the man himself, he hasn't heard anything regarding a match. While, speaking with
The Wrestling Classic, Austin stated the following:
"I haven't heard anything yet. We're about two weeks away. It's the biggest show of the year. Right now, WWE has as good of a roster as they've had since the Attitude Era. They have a deep roster. There are so many guys and gals who need those coveted spots. They have plenty of names and talent from draw from. They should shine the light and cameras on the current superstars," Austin told The Wrestling Classic.
