With the FIFA World Cup due to start this month, WWE will host a World Cup tournament of its own! The SmackDown World Cup on FOX started this week with an array of international Superstars due to take part.
On this week's edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Santos Escobar defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to Advance In WWE SmackDown World Cup, while, Strowman made short work of Jinder Mahal, defeating him with a Monster Bomb.
Now, WWE will hold two SmackDown World Cup First Round matches next week on SmckDown with Ricochet taking on Mustafa Ali. Plush, Sami Zayn takes on Butch.
The winner of the tournament will receive an Intercontinental Championship Match against Gunther, so the stakes are extremely high.
