Johnny Gargano returned to NXT on The Grayson Waller Effect with special guest Shawn Michaels. Following his NXT Championship Match loss against Bron Breakker at Vengeance Day, Waller has turned his ire toward management and specifically Michaels.
At the end of the segment, Michaels introduced a returning Johnny Gargano as Waller's opponent for Stand & Deliver. "Johnny Wrestling" came back to NXT to defend the honor of the brand. Gargano rushed into the ring and peppered Waller with punches.
Gargano made his debut on NXT and quickly became a fan favorite, known for his high-energy matches and charismatic personality. Over the years, Gargano has become one of the most beloved wrestlers in NXT history, winning multiple championships and engaging in memorable rivalries with the likes of Tommaso Ciampa, Adam Cole, and Andrade "Cien" Almas.
Gargano left NXT back in December of 2021 when his contract was set to expire. After he was done with his promo, he was attacked from behind by Waller. When Gargano returned to WWE in 2022, he was brought up to the main roster as a Raw superstar.
