The main event of UFC 280 featured slam Makhachev defeating Charles Oliveira to become the new lightweight champion.

In his first opportunity to capture gold, Makhachev was dominant in every aspect of the game when he knocked down Charles Oliveira before wrapping up a nasty arm-triangle choke to end the UFC 280 main event in impressive fashion.



Oliveira's side came at 3:16 in Round 2 as Makhachev began his celebration with a big hug from his coach and longtime teammate Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Taking to Twitter, Islam wrote the following reaction to his victory:
