GUNTHER is now the longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion.
Back in June, Gunther defeated Ricochet to win the Intercontinental Championship, making him the first Austrian to win the title. Now, at 281 days and counting, GUNTHER has become the longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion.
It should be noted that The Honky Tonk Man still holds the record for the longest-running title reign with the WWE Intercontinental Championship at 454 days, GUNTHER has topped some of the big names such as; Kurt Angle, Razor Ramon, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Mr. Perfect, Randy Orton, Edge, Chris Jericho, and more.
In 2018, GUNTHER signed with WWE and began performing on the NXT UK brand. During his reign as NXT UK Champion, GUNTHER competed in several high-profile matches against top wrestlers like Ilja Dragunov and Tommaso Ciampa. His matches with Dragunov, in particular, were considered some of the best of the year and received critical acclaim from wrestling fans and experts.
GUNTHER is known for his intense and serious demeanor both inside and outside of the ring. He is a stoic and intimidating presence, and his wrestling style reflects that. He is a master of the chop, which is a powerful strike to the chest that often leaves his opponents with visible marks.
