Edge's Retirement Match Should Be Against Bobby Lashley?

Edge has had a stellar in-ring performance throughout his career, making him widely regarded as one of the greatest in-ring performers of all time. The WWE Hall of Famer has done it all in WWE. He had made some promises to fulfill his terms with his wrestling career and also returned from a serious neck injury.

Edge announced his retirement in 2023, a few weeks after Edge had recovered from his neck. Ever since The Rated R Superstar announced his retirement, there has been a lot of speculation about who the former WWE Champion should face in his retirement match.



During the latest episode of The Writing With Russo Show, former WWE and WCW writer Vince Russo talks about who he believes Edge should face in his final WWE match.

“Let’s say Edge is at the point of retirement. He knows, he’s seeing these young guys come up, ‘It’s time for me to step aside,’ but Edge says, ‘You know what, I wanna go out in a match against the best. I don’t wanna start at the bottom. I want to take on the best guy on this roster as a man, just to prove something to myself.’ And have that match be Lashley.”

Recalling Ric Flair's retirement match, Russo said that Edge's last match will be the same as Ric Flair's retirement match against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24.



“Have Lashley come out and say, ‘I’m the best. Let him say, ‘It would be an honor.’ Don’t give me that wrestling trivial BS. Don’t give it to me, man. Let Lashley say, ‘Man, I was watching you during the Attitude Era. You were a role model. You inspired me. You want this one last opportunity? I’m gonna give it to you.’ It’s Shawn Michaels, almost, and Ric Flair.”

Lashley is definitely one of the top wrestlers in WWE, he has dominated WWE since winning the United States Championship and could be the perfect opponent for Edge in his last WWE match.
