Cody Rhodes had surgery this week to repair his torn pectoral muscle, and there is a little more about his week.
According to Fightful Select, WWE was more lenient on allowing him to wrestle the match at WWE Hell in a Cell because the pectoral was torn completely off the bone, and further damage likely couldn't be done.
To back up Cody Rhodes' words, he was insistent on working the match, and had he not wanted to, he wouldn't have been asked or required to. There were some people who were already excited that he was coming in from AEW but were privately applauding the guts he showed in competing in the match.
Although WWE stated that Rhodes was undergoing surgery Wednesday, the original Fightful report of Thursday was correct and confirmed by Brandi Rhodes. Instead, he got into Birmingham on Wednesday to prepare for the surgery. WWE also had him conduct interviews and filmed material for an eventual documentary about the injury, among other things.
Cody Rhodes was back home by the weekend.
